step in/into: περνάω ένα (πραγματικό ή νοητό) κατώφλι

Ομαλό σαν ρήμα: step, stepped, stepped και stepping

Παραδείγματα:

  • He stepped into the room.  Μπήκε στο δωμάτιο.
  • Let’s do it step by step. Ας το κάνουμε βήμα-βήμα.
  • She is not here right now. She stepped out for a moment.  Δεν είν’ εδώ αυτή τη στιγμή. Βγήκε για μια στιγμή έξω.
  • She took her first steps when she was only 10 months old. Έκανε τα πρώτα της βήματα όταν ήταν μόλις 10 μηνών.
  • Watch your step! Πρόσεξε (το επόμενό σου βήμα) ή που θα βηματίσεις.
  • He has a heavy step. Έχει ένα βαρύ βήμα.
Examples:
One must take very careful steps when walking on ice
When the project started to fall behind schedule, the manager decided to step in and take control to ensure it was completed on time
Most babies take their first steps between 9 and 12 months of age
He stepped into the room
She took a solid step on the frozen ground
She heard the ground crack under her steps as she walked through the forest
Asking for forgiveness is the first step towards absolution
